The steps to Download and Install the agent are different depending on the Operating System you are using. Select your Operating System from the list below

Windows

Downloading

Download and Save the Agent

  1. Enter your user name, password, and any other required information. Then, click Download or Continue.
  2. You are prompted to save the agent. Save the agent to a place on your computer that is easy to locate.

Installing/Running

Dissolvable Agent

  1. Browse to the location on your computer where you saved the agent.
  2. Double-click the Dissolvable Agent.exe
  3. You may be asked for approval to run the agent, click Yes.
  4. If prompted for a server name, enter registration.westfield.ma.edu
  5. A progress bar displays as the agent scans your computer. Further instructions display upon completion of the agent scan.

Mac OS X

Downloading

Download and Save the Agent

  1. Enter your user name, password, and any other required information. Then click Download or Continue.
  2. You are prompted to save the agent. Save the agent to a place on your computer that is easy to locate.

Installing/Running

Dissolvable Agent

  1. Browse to the location on your computer where you saved the agent.
  2. The agent you downloaded is in .zip form (unless your browser unzipped it for you). Double-click on the Dissolvable Agent.zip file to open it.
  3. Double-click the unzipped Dissolvable Agent. To verify, select the agent, and click File->Get Info from the toolbar on the top of your desktop. If the description shows Bradford Dissolvable.app, then you have the correct agent.
  4. You may be asked for approval to run the agent, click Yes.
  5. If prompted for a server name, enter registration.westfield.ma.edu
  6. The agent scans your computer. Further instructions display upon completion of the agent scan.

Linux

Installing/Running

To use the Dissolvable Agent on a Linux OS, you must first change the Permissions on the Dissolvable Agent, then run it. The Dissolvable Agent only supports a Linux OS if it is LSB 3.0 compliant. If your OS is not LSB 3.0 compliant, the Agent alerts you. The following explains the registration process:

Changing the Permissions

You can change the permissions on the agent in two ways. Either change permissions through the User Interface (UI), depending on the distribution of Linux, or through the Terminal. Some distributions of Linux will not allow you to change permissions via the UI. If you have any issues with the UI, follow the instructions for using the Terminal.

Through the UI:

  1. Browse to the area where the agent was saved.
  2. Right-click the agent and select Properties.
  3. Select the tab labeled Permissions.
  4. Check the box that says is Executable or run as Executable.

Through the Terminal:

  1. Browse to the area where the agent was saved.
  2. Run the following command:
    chmod +x Dissolvable Agent.bin

Running the Agent

After changing the permissions of the agent, you can run the agent in two ways. Either run through the User Interface (UI), depending on the distribution of Linux, or through the Terminal. Some distributions of Linux will not allow you to run the agent via the UI. If you have any issues with the UI, follow the instructions for using the Terminal.

Through the UI:

  1. Browse to the area where the agent was saved.
  2. Double-click the Dissolvable Agent.bin file.
  3. The agent scans your computer. Further instructions display upon completion of the agent scan.

Through the Terminal:

  1. Browse to where the agent is located.
  2. Run the following command:
    ./Dissolvable Agent.bin
  3. The agent scans your computer. Further instructions display upon completion of the agent scan.
